Meet the Bees Experience – Children’s Session
Welcome to our Meet the Bees Experience. This fun and gentle 1-hour session is perfect for children who are curious about bees. It is designed to be safe, engaging, and easy to understand.
What This Experience Is About
This session takes place at our Detling Apiary in the Kent countryside. Because we keep group sizes very small, each child gets plenty of attention and time to enjoy the experience.
In addition, children will discover how bees live and why they are so important to nature.
A Gentle Introduction to Bees
First, we begin with a simple and friendly introduction. Children will learn:
What honeybees do
How bees make honey
Why bees are important
The different jobs inside the hive
This helps them feel confident before seeing the bees.
See the Bees Up Close
Next, children will safely watch real honeybees at work using our observation hive.
During this part, they will:
Watch bees moving around the hive
Spot honey, pollen, and brood
Look out for the queen bee
Learn how bees work together
Because safety is important, everything is fully supervised.
Honey Tasting Time
After meeting the bees, children can enjoy a taste of our fresh, raw honey.
This is often a favourite moment and helps connect what they’ve learned to real life.
Make Your Own Beeswax Candle
To finish, each child will make their own rolled beeswax candle.
This simple and creative activity means they can take a little piece of the day home with them.
What You Receive
To make the experience extra special, each child receives:
